Patient Care Tech

Under the direction of a qualified Registered Nurse, performs various patient care activities and related clerical functions that support the clinical operations of the Emergency Department. Provides technical support and participates in unit activities as a team member. Participates in unit, departmental, and organizational improvement activities as assigned. Responsible for review, completion and terminal filing of ED records.EDUCATION:Minimum:* High school diploma or GEDPreferred:* Post secondary education in a related field.* Medical TerminologyLICENSE:PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:Minimum:* Current BLS-provided during week one of hire.* CPI certification obtained within 30 days of hire.WORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum:* One year acute care experience in hospital setting.* Computer literacy requiredPreferred:* Phlebotomy, EKG, ED Experience, Medical Terminology courseSKILLS:Minimum:Ability to organize, plan and accomplish assignments under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.Computer literacy required with word processingPreferred:* Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record, Meditech.* Excel and spreadsheets.
