Job Title: Dispatch Coordinator - Hudson Valley Transportation Mgt. centerLocation: Hawthorne, NY (Westchester County)Position Type: Full-Time | OnsitePay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00/hr.Position OverviewCoach USA, a motorcoach transportation company, is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator to support Coach USA's contracted services agreement with Lower Transit Link and the NY Dept. of Transportation by providing proactive measures to the commuter bus services running safely and on time despite service interruptions. This position is multi-functional and rotates shifts from a desk at the Hudson Valley Transit Management Center. The work is often a series of routine and repetitive tasks punctuated with events requiring focus, attention and problem solving in short intervals based on processing information quickly. Decisions made and information relayed require clear communication with internal staff, external agencies or with bus passengers.Essential FunctionsMonitor and control movement of buses on the service through the use of computerized systems; monitor bus from the time it enters service, until it pulls into depot, including system failures, emergency situations, and maintenance of balanced headways and schedulesPerform constant visual monitoring of buses on video display monitors and communicate by radio or phone with operators and various personnelCall to determine location and nature of operator problems to determine type of response necessaryImplement corrective actions to support on-time performance via dispatching to field staff, operators, etc.Complete incident reports on a timely basisWork on special projects as neededRequired Skills & CompetenciesMust be able to prepare memos, reports and summaries in a concise mannerAbility to speak clearly to others and convey information effectively in person, by phone or radioMust be able to demonstrate emotional intelligence during stressful situations and possess good judgement and discretion in a fast-paced environmentMust be detail oriented, well organized and possess effective time management skillsProven customer service and interpersonal skills a mustGeneral knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and MS office packageMust be able to work individually as well as in a team environmentMust be able to work flexible hours or shiftsEducation/QualificationsHigh School diploma, GED or equivalent; some college a plusMinimum of 2 years operations experience in a safety sensitive environmentPrevious experience in transportation or public service industry preferredExperience with monitoring of computers and dispatching in any field preferredInterested candidates can apply at www.coachusa.com/employmentCoach USA is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
