Tamarack Day Camp - Randolph, NJPosition OverviewThe Ropes Specialist is responsible for leading and supervising campers on Tamarack Day Camp's ropes and challenge course. This role focuses on safety, skill instruction, teamwork, and confidence building. The specialist creates a structured, engaging environment while ensuring all activities follow established safety protocols.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruct and supervise campers on low ropes and challenge course activitiesEnforce all safety rules, spotting techniques, and equipment checksProperly set up, break down, and maintain ropes course equipment dailyLead team-building and problem-solving initiatives appropriate to each age groupActively engage and motivate campers while maintaining control of the groupCommunicate clearly with campers, counselors, and supervisorsMonitor camper behavior and address issues calmly and professionallyRespond appropriately to emergencies and follow camp safety proceduresMaintain a clean, organized, and safe ropes areaQualificationsExperience with ropes courses, outdoor education, or challenge programs preferredStrong leadership and group management skillsAbility to clearly explain instructions and safety expectationsComfortable working at heights and in outdoor environmentsAbility to remain calm, alert, and decisive in all situationsMust be dependable and professionalCertificationsRopes or challenge course certification preferredWillingness to complete Tamarack Day Camp-required training prior to campSchedule & CommitmentFull summer availability requiredCamp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PMAttendance required for staff orientation and training daysWhat Tamarack OffersSupportive and well-structured staff environmentComprehensive training and ongoing supervisionCompetitive summer compensationOpportunity to positively impact children through confidence-building experiencesApply now at tamarackdaycamp.com/staff/Job Questions:Will you be living in New Jersey over the Summer (June, July and August)?I understand I must attend mandatory training throughout the month of June.Will you be available all 39 days of camp from June 29th-August 21st?
