Summer Camp Counselor

The Summer Camp Counselor leads engaging, age-appropriate activities and fosters a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for campers. This role is responsible for planning and facilitating daily camp programming while acting as a positive role model and ensuring camper safety and well-being.Key Responsibilities:Activity LeadershipLead and supervise group activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, nature exploration, or themed educational sessions.Adapt programming to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of different age groups.Ensure all activities are safe, organized, and inclusive.Camper Engagement & SupervisionMaintain a safe and supportive environment by actively supervising campers throughout the day.Encourage participation, teamwork, and respectful behavior.Monitor and respond to camper needs, including minor injuries, emotional support, and conflict resolution.Daily Camp OperationsAssist with daily setup, cleanup, and maintenance of camp areas and supplies.Support arrival, dismissal, and transitions between activities.Enforce camp rules and emergency procedures as trained.Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with fellow staff, counselors, and leadership to deliver consistent and cohesive programming.Communicate regularly with supervisors about camper progress, incidents, or concerns.Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.Qualifications:Education & Experience* High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, recreation, or related fields is a plus.* Prior experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program preferred.Skills & CompetenciesEnergetic, creative, and responsible with strong leadership skills.Ability to manage a group of children in a positive and engaging way.Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).DISCLAIMERThe employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodation will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
