- With direction from a school administrator, incumbents in the classification monitor and patrol school buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas to maintain order and safety and to prevent illegal acts.
- This classification is distinguished from Yard Supervision Aide in that a Campus Security Officer supervises student conduct to prevent vandalism, theft, or other illegal activities, while a Yard Supervision Aide maintains order outside of the classroom, under the supervision of school administrators, teachers, or support staff.
- Observes and checks students or visitors who appear to be loitering and are out of class and determines appropriate action; checks and locks doors, windows and gates; operates a two-way radio as needed.
- Communicates with key leaders of local gangs; monitors local gang activities by establishing communications and effective relationships with gang leaders to minimize potential gang related incidents affecting campus security; monitors key gang members for weapon possession.
- 12th grade no diploma
