Job Description: Surgical Support Assistant Main Operating Room 1275 York Ave. Room Preparation: Secures instruments, sterile supplies and special equipment, and sets up room for surgical procedures in assigned operating rooms.

Registered Nurse / Surgical First Assistant / Operating Room. Successful completion of the Emory Surgical Assistant training program or a Registered Nurse/Physician's Assistant nationally certified as an Registered Nurse First Assistant.

Certified Surgical Technologist (Required) Set up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, including patient information and details of the surgery performed.

Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures. Surgical oncology: 3 years (Required) Perform regular checks and maintenance of surgical equipment.

Holiday rotation Required Certifications: Certified Surgical First Assistant NBSTS or NSAA. Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum Experience: 3 year experience in cardiac.

Works in unison with Co-Senior Surgical Pathologists' Assistant to formulate workflow changes, run analytics, and support proposals set fourth by the Technical Supervisor. Provides coverage for Technical Supervisor/Senior Surgical and GYN Pathologists’ Assistant when required.

Cleans OR surgical suites and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing linens and sanitizing all surfaces. Stocks supplies in surgical suites as necessary or designated.

Certification as a surgical first assistant or completion of surgical specialty checklist for assigned areas within six months of hire. EXPERIENCE : Minimum three to five years in the surgical scrub role; experience and technical proficiency in the First Surgical Assistant role is preferred.

Ability to identify the pattern of surgical approach and to anticipates steps of a surgical procedure and the first or second assistant role during each step Recognizes and names surgical instruments and specific intraoperative situations where they are used, as well as alternative instruments that may be used.

This job provides technical support services, assists with the delivery of patient care by functioning as a member of the surgical team, transports patients, runs errands, relays messages, and assists with patient care and room turnover.
