Completion of a phlebotomy training program required. Supports laboratory activities related to laboratory testing (phlebotomy, specimen collection, computer order entry and specimen processing) to ensure accurate result reporting and quick turn-around time.

GENERAL SUMMARY:Under limited supervision, and according to established procedures, performs a variety of laboratory support procedures including specimen collection or phlebotomy, order entry, processing, point of care testing, and transport of laboratory specimens and materials.

Completion of medical assistance / phlebotomy program or the completion of a minimum two year college degree in biological science or health related field, or one year documented/verified laboratory experience.

Collect routine laboratory specimens including phlebotomy, urinalysis and/or oral swabs. Knowledge of clinical procedures, medical anatomy, and physiology. Perform x-rays and perform splinting when needed/directed.

Posses a valid MA, CMA, RMA or EMT Certification or. Responsible for quality assurance program for compliance with CLIA waived laboratory and patient result trackers. Document within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) all medical interventions timely and accurately.

May also be required to act as coach, mentor, instructor and resource person for new employees who have completed the required phlebotomy training program. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, Phlebotomy position located at a client site in Bloomfield, MI. Must be able to work Monday through Thursday 8:30am - 5:30pm and Friday 8:30am - 2:30pm. Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.

Performs and collects phlebotomy specimens within cost and maintains efforts of a less than 2 percent recollection or cancellation rate. Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.

Health care experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.

Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs. One to three years phlebotomy experience preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing.

Rotating Schedule will be a minimum of 3 days a week to include rotating Saturday’s with occasional Sunday's based on holidays. High School Diploma (HSD) or GED *Please Note this is a State Requirement to obtain a Hemodialysis Certification.
