Manual MachinistLocation: Bakersfield, CAEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewAn industrial machine shop in Bakersfield, California is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to support machining, repair, and refurbishment of drilling tools and heavy steel components used in oilfield and water well drilling operations.The ideal candidate is comfortable operating manual lathes, mills, and shop equipment and has experience machining large steel parts and restoring components to tight tolerances.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate manual lathes, mills, and other machine shop equipmentMachine and repair large steel components and drilling toolsPerform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gaugesRead and interpret mechanical drawings and shop instructionsRestore worn components to specified tolerancesSupport machining operations related to tool rebuild and refurbishmentMaintain a safe and organized shop environmentQualifications3+ years experience as a manual machinistExperience operating manual engine lathes and millsAbility to read blueprints and technical drawingsStrong understanding of machining tolerances and measurement toolsExperience machining large steel componentsExperience in oilfield, mining, or heavy equipment repair environments preferredPreferred SkillsDrill tool repair experienceWelding or hardfacing familiarityFabrication experienceMechanical troubleshootingCompensationCompetitive hourly wage based on experienceFull-time opportunity with a stable shop environment
