The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.Open to internal, BNH candidates only. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.Job SummaryThe successful candidate will function as a working group leader over lower grade craftsman, directs, set up and operate a variety of machine shop tools such as manual lathes, and milling machines, boring mills, CNC lathes and CNC milling machines, CNC wire and CNC sinker machines, ID/OD grinders, jig grinders, surface grinders, and other general machine shop tools.Job Duties:Fabricate both new and replacement precision complex parts for test articles, experimental equipment, machinery, and other itemsMake parts from both ferrous and non-ferrous metals and the material including high temperature resisting alloys as well as copper, bronze, brass, and non-metallic materialsWork from blueprints, drawings, sketches and oral instructions; applies standard shop mathematics in setting up workPerform all machine and hand operations including tapping holes, scraping and fitting sub-assembly workPerform precision grinding and lapping, drilling, filing and other operationsDisassembles, assembles, installs and repairs test and operating equipmentIt is a condition of employment to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policyPerform other duties as requiredBasic Qualifications:Six years of progressive precision machinist experience which may or may not have been as an apprentice in the tradeMust be able to direct the work of lower grade craftsmanMust be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer networkCurrent U. S.
