Payroll Specialist (Contract-to-Potential-Hire)Location: Englewood, CO (Hybrid – In-office Tuesday–Thursday)Pay Rate: $29.00 – $33/hourContract Length: 6–9 months to start, with potential for extension or conversionSchedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00–4:00 or 9:00–5:00Lakeshore Talent is partnering with a growing organization to hire a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during an HRIS system transition. This is a highly visible role requiring strong ADP expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to operate independently within a lean, collaborative team.Role OverviewThe Payroll Specialist will support bi-weekly, multi-state payroll processing and related payroll projects while the organization evaluates and implements a new HRIS system. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, employee-facing communication, and working through nuanced payroll structures.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess bi-weekly, multi-state payroll accurately and on time using ADP and eTimeSupport payroll operations during HRIS testing, implementation, and “test & learn” phasesMaintain and audit payroll data including new hires, terminations, deductions, bonuses, and commissionsRespond to employee payroll inquiries through a ticketing system (Freshdesk) with a high level of customer serviceAssist with benefits-related payroll adjustments and arrears deductionsCalculate and process payroll taxes; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsGenerate payroll reports including earnings statements, tax summaries, and labor cost reportsSupport year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and filingDocument payroll procedures and assist with process improvement initiativesServe as backup support for payroll leadership when neededRequired Qualifications2+ years of hands-on payroll experience using ADP or other Payroll related systemsExperience diagnosing payroll issues and managing payroll ticketsProven experience processing multi-state U.S. payrollStrong customer service orientation with the ability to handle sensitive pay-related conversationsProficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong attention to detail, organization, and time management skillsAbility to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a teamUnderstanding of payroll taxes and wage & hour regulations (preferred)Additional Skills & AttributesComfortable working in a fast-paced, open-concept office environmentAdaptable and proactive during periods of change and system transitionStrong communication skills and professionalismInterest in broader HR and Total Rewards functions is a plusWork Environment & Physical RequirementsSedentary role with extended periods of sittingFrequent typing and detailed computer workAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 25–30 pounds occasionallyRegular attendance during scheduled business hours is essential
