Job Description Senior Civil/Traffic Engineer – Project Lead | Herndon, Virginia Beach, Richmond, VASalary: Competitive + Bonus + ESOPEmployment Type: Full-TimeLocation: Herndon, VA | Virginia Beach, VA | Richmond, VAAbout the Role: We are seeking a Senior Civil/Traffic Engineer to lead and manage civil engineering and traffic design projects across Virginia. This is a leadership role ideal for an experienced engineer with 15+ years of civil engineering experience, including multi-project oversight, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering innovative solutions for medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design and execution of multiple civil/traffic projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, SYNCHRO, HCS, and other discipline-specific software.Collaborate with Project Managers and clients to provide engineering solutions, recommendations, and technical guidance.Mentor and coach junior engineers, sharing best practices and advanced engineering knowledge.Conduct design computations, quality reviews, and cross-disciplinary project coordination.Assist with scope development, scheduling, and budget management to meet project deadlines.Attend client meetings, contribute to proposals, and support business development initiatives.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with leadership in traffic design projects.Proficient in civil engineering software and Microsoft Office.Strong knowledge of traffic analysis, traffic signal systems, and regulatory standards (MUTCD).Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.Preferred:Professional Engineer (PE) license.Discipline-specific certifications (PTOE, IMSA, etc.).Experience with county or state-level clients.Why Join Us: Work with a 100% employee-owned ESOP company, where your expertise shapes projects, teams, and client success.
