Elevator Mechanic-Residential and Stairlifts

Residential Stairlift Elevator Mechanic Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Residential Stairlift Elevator Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair stairlifts and residential elevators. This role requires technical expertise, attention to safety, and excellent customer service skills as you work directly in customers' homes to provide mobility solutions. Key Responsibilities Installation & Setup Install straight and curved stairlifts on various staircase configurations Mount residential elevators including platform lifts and wheelchair lifts Configure electrical connections and safety systems according to manufacturer specifications Conduct thorough testing of all safety features and operational controls Provide customer training on proper equipment operation and safety procedures Maintenance & Repair Perform routine preventive maintenance on stairlift and elevator systems Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools Replace worn components including motors, batteries, rails, and control panels Calibrate safety sensors, limit switches, and emergency stop systems Maintain detailed service records and inspection reports Customer Service Conduct in-home consultations to assess installation requirements Explain equipment features and maintenance recommendations to customers Respond to service calls promptly and professionally Ensure work areas are clean and protected during installation or repair Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years experience in mechanical or electrical repair (elevator/lift experience preferred) Knowledge of electrical systems, motors, and hydraulic components Valid driver's license with clean driving record Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in confined spaces Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Preferred Qualifications Technical certification in elevator or lift systems Experience with accessibility equipment Basic welding or fabrication skills Familiarity with ADA compliance requirements Working Conditions Work primarily in residential settings Travel to multiple customer locations daily Occasional evening or weekend emergency calls Exposure to various home environments and weather conditions
