Hutton's legacy serves Five Star Rated service to homeowners, business owners, and churches throughout the Tidewater area.As our Generator Specialist, you'll be responsible for complete lifecycle service of residential standby generator systems, including:• Installation & System IntegrationInstall whole-home standby generators and transfer switchesPerform proper load calculations and circuit planningCoordinate electrical tie-ins, grounding, and bondingEnsure all work meets NEC, local codes, and manufacturer specsWork alongside gas/propane providers and inspectors when needed• Commissioning & StartupPerform full system commissioning after installProgram controllers and set operating parametersVerify voltage, frequency, and transfer operationTest under load conditionsEducate homeowners on operation and safety • Preventative MaintenanceConduct scheduled maintenance servicesOil, filter, spark plug, and battery replacementCooling system and fuel system inspectionsTransfer switch testingSystem health reporting • Diagnostics & TroubleshootingDiagnose no-start, no-transfer, fault codes, and performance issuesInterpret controller data and error logsIdentify electrical, mechanical, and control failuresPerform root-cause analysis • Repairs & UpgradesRepair generators, ATS systems, controls, and wiringReplace failed components and sensorsUpgrade older systems to current standardsRestore systems to full operational readiness What We're Looking ForWe're looking for a true professional that has experience with:Residential standby generatorsAutomatic transfer switchesLoad management modulesControl panels and diagnosticsResidential service panels and subpanelsFuel system coordinationInspection and permitting processesOther residential service repairs periodically Required / Preferred:Journeyman/Master Electrician (or equivalent experience)Generator-specific experienceStrong troubleshooting skillsClean driving recordProfessional appearance and communication Coordinate with utility service providers and local code officials to ensure proper guidelines are established.Responsible for adhering to all OSHA safety standards and regulations including the use of proper PPE at all timesKeep truck clean, stocked and accurately inventoriedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of verifiable work experience in the Electrical industry with Residential Generator maintenance, repair, and installation experience.Must be highly detail-oriented due to the nature of the electrical field to ensure safety for fellow technicians, self, and property.Must be team-orientedAbility to communicate effectively with customers and fellow coworkersRequirements:A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.Apprenticeship Certification Preferred but not requiredJourneyman License Preferred but not required.Valid driver's license, and approved to drive by Company's insurance carrier.Willing to work hours outside of normal work schedule at times and on call schedule periodicallyYou should apply if:• You love to learn• You are a master of communication and can explain hard things in a simple way• You like to solve people's problems for them.• You are mechanically Inclined and experienced• Your peers describe you as methodical, reliable, and trustworthy.• You are self-motivated and looking for a 6-figure income career• You have worked in an environment where your performance is rewarded financially.
