Job Description
Public Affairs CoordinatorThe Public Affairs Coordinator is a member of a collaborative public affairs team. ThePublic Affairs Coordinator supports the Public Affairs department in advancing Essential AccessHealth's mission, strategic priorities, and policy agenda. The ideal candidate has strongcommunication skills, a passion for reproductive health equity, and is comfortable working in afast-paced, mission-driven environment.The salary for this position is $75,000. This position can be based in our Los Angeles or Bay Areaoffice with a hybrid work schedule.SPECIFIC DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:• Draft and disseminate action alerts, policy updates, fact sheets, and e-newsletters• Monitor federal, state (California + Hawaiʻi) and local policy (as needed) and legislativedevelopments relevant to sexual and reproductive health, and prepare summaries, briefs,public comments, and template or draft letters for internal and external audiences• Maintain legislative priority tracking sheets and documents• Assist in coordinating and implementing stakeholder, partner, community and youthengagement and outreach activities including events, meetings, focus groups, roundtables and town halls• Help maintain the organization's contact management system. Keep contact informationand lists clean and up to date• Represent the organization in coalition meetings and spaces• Identify outreach opportunities and conduct outreach activities as needed to advancedepartment and organization's strategic priorities and policy agenda• Develop Public Affairs and policy presentations, surveys, and polls• Collaborate with the Communications Specialist and other Public Affairs and departmentteam members to create content development for social media platforms, websites,advocacy and awareness campaigns• Develop, distribute, and coordinate printing of materials and merch, and order supplies asneeded to support Essential Access programs and advocacy priorities• Organize Public Affairs department materials and documents, and provide otheradministrative support to the Vice President of Public Affairs and to support public affairsfunctions• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned and required by the Public AffairsdepartmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:The qualifications listed below reflect the skills and experiences that will support success in thisrole. We recognize that not all strong candidates will have every listed qualification and encourageapplicants with equivalent or transferable experience to apply.• Demonstrated commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health, rights, andjustice for all individuals and communities• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in public policy, advocacy,communications, or a related field — especially in health, social justice, or community based work preferred• Educational background in political science, communications, marketing, or a related field— or equivalent lived or professional experience• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with close attention to detail (writingsamples may be requested)• Effective verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverseaudiences• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meetdeadlines in a dynamic environment• Familiarity with media, social media, and the current political landscape, particularly as itrelates to reproductive health and equity• Flexible and adaptable, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to shift priorities ina fast-paced setting• Experience with digital platforms and graphic design tools, or a willingness to learn• Willingness to travel occasionally (within the state or region) for events or meetingsCompany DescriptionAbout Essential Access HealthMission: Essential Access Health champions and promotes quality sexual + reproductive health care for allEssential Access Health (Essential Access) achieves its mission and advances health equity through a wide range of programs and services including clinic support initiatives, provider training, advanced clinical research, advocacy, and public awareness campaigns.
