About this RoleAs the Program Coordinator on the Convening Team, you will play a critical, full-time role focused on measuring and improving our program effectiveness and end-to-end user experience. This position combines rigorous data analysis with hands-on community and event support. You will be responsible for conducting metrics and impact analysis, performing user research to understand community needs, and enhancing the daily experience of our members. You will also work on strategic analysis and assist with planning and running high-stakes events.Key ResponsibilitiesUser Research, User Experience, and Strategic Analysis- Conduct user interviews and quantitative data collection to deeply understand the needs of researchers, their organizations, and what enables their most impactful work.- Conduct metrics and impact analysis to measure program effectiveness. Analyze quantitative data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.- Analyze our end-to-end user experience and make recommendations on improvements to make based on your strategic analysis. Community Experience, Design, and Implementation- Design and continuously improve the end-to-end user experience (UX), including onboarding, visitor experience, stocking, slack engagement and design, office utilization and design, and the general social environment.- Provide strategic problem-solving and rapid response to emerging community needs, using triage frameworks to prioritize interventions by impact and urgency.- Address community needs through reactive work as it arises.Hosting & Membership - Investigate and evaluate who to admit as members into our space, including strategic and theory of change analysis.Events & Communications- Assist with the planning and execution of events, such as elite technical events for frontier AI company employees and educational events for policymakers in DC.- Manage website updates and external communications, including creating content that showcases our programs and ensures our public presence accurately reflects our work and impact.- The specific balance of time spent across these responsibility areas will vary based on organizational priorities and program needs.- Additional related duties may include supporting other areas of program operations, contributing to program strategy development, and assisting with special projects.Skills & ExperienceYou might be a good fit if:- You have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field- You have a strong background in statistical analysis and experience with data-driven decision making- You have helped put on high context, large, and professional events- Think AI might have transformative effects in the coming years, and are driven to help humanity to safely navigate periods of intense uncertainty and change- Are a quick learner, capable of understanding complex technical topics and are motivated to learn about a wide array of research agendas across AI Safety (such as our focus areas)- Have excellent written and verbal communication skillsHave a strong background in project management and can juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously- Possess a strong service mindset and enjoy understanding and supporting users and their organizations.- You care deeply about our users and their work.- Demonstrate creativity and agency in problem-solving.- Are flexible and up for tackling a wide range of problems.- Are comfortable with ambiguity and reactive work in a fast-paced environmentOur benefits include:- Generous vacation policy- 401(k) with employer match- Employer-paid commuter benefits- PPO health, dental, and vision insurance- Catered lunches and dinners, plus unlimited snacks & drinks- Regular interaction with AI safety researchers and thought leaders- A friendly, mission-driven teamLogisticsThis is a full-time, on-site position at our Berkeley office, just steps from the nearest BART (metro) and bus stop.
