Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations Internship
About Us
The Duke University Office of Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations is an award-winning team of storytellers, creative producers, and media strategists dedicated to advancing the university's mission through compelling storytelling and outreach.
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and driven intern to assist our team and gain hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and public relations. This internship will provide exposure to media relations, social media strategy, brand messaging, and operations, all while working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in content creation for social media, websites, newsletters, press releases, and blogs.
* Support social media team in various ways
* Help draft and edit media pitches and public relations materials.
* Assist with the production of deliverables for marketing and communications efforts.
* Organize materials and supplies for conferences and events.
* Pull and analyze data analytics for marketing and media relations to assess engagement and campaign effectiveness.
* Provide support in brainstorming ideas for new and innovative campaigns on social media.
* Help research, plan, and draft communications to local offices and monthly engagement messaging.
* Assisting writing content for the website, e-newsletter, and other internal/external communication channels.
* Support the communications operations team with departmental needs as necessary.
* Participate in brainstorming sessions for creative campaigns and branding strategies.
Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
* Writing and editing skills, with attention to grammar and storytelling.
* Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook); experience with content management tools is a plus.
* Basic knowledge of graphic design or video editing software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro) is a plus.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to assist with multiple tasks efficiently.
* Interest in media relations, communications, brand messaging, and digital marketing.
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn and contribute in a team setting.
* Ability to assist in pulling and analyzing data analytics for marketing and media engagement.
