For additional information contact Director of Transportation Stephen Powell at .Position Summary: Gibson County Special School District is seeking applicants for the position of Bus Monitor. A bus monitor rides the bus route in the afternoon and is responsible for supervising students on school buses and coordinating with bus drivers, ensuring a safe transport service for everyone. Bus monitors oversee monitoring the students' behavior, assisting the students on and off the bus when necessary, maintaining order, and enforcing the safety rules and policies.ResponsibilitiesTo assist the bus driver in maintaining discipline while the bus is in operation, maintain proper records and documentation, and assist students with loading, unloading, and seating arrangements as required.Required Education/Certification/Endorsement:High school diploma or equivalent.Some knowledge and experience working with children.Must be physically able to assist the driver with the safety, movement, management, and care of the children boarding the school bus, leaving the bus, and/or being transported.Capable of communication and associating with children in a manner that fosters mutual respect.The ability to serve as a member of a team for the safe transportation of students and staffGibson County Special School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, religion or marital status., in training activities or employment practices in accordance with Title VI of Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Americans with Disabilities Acts of 1997 and 2004.
