- Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Ackerman lab (Department of Pathology and Immunology, Center for Brain Immunology and Glia) studies molecular mechanisms underlying neural plasticity and neurodegeneration using zebrafish and fruit fly model systems.
- Our laboratory uses animal models (zebrafish and Drosophila) to understand how the brain develops and functions.
- The goal of our research is to understand how diverse glial cell types communicate with neurons and with each other to instruct neural circuit formation, function, and remodeling, and to understand how this contributes to disease.
- Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and GraphPad. Experience and working knowledge of diverse cloning strategies (Gateway Cloning, Gibson assembly, etc
- Previous work with zebrafish and/or Drosophila.
