- The Kauffman Lab at U.C. San Diego has openings for up to 2 post-doctoral researchers to study the role of the brain in regulating reproductive hormone secretion as well as the effects of steroid hormoneson neural brain circuits controlling fertility.
- Research is conducted in normal and transgenic mouse models, addressing the interaction of hormones (testosterone, estrogen, progesterone) and neuropeptides (kisspeptin, neurokinin B, dynorphin, GnRH) in coordinating the brain’s regulation of reproductive status.
- Lab techniques include a combination of in vivo mouse work and bench work ( in situ hybridization and RNAscope, qRT PCR, immunohistochemistry, hormone ELISAs, brain histology and neuroanatomy, microscopy, viral vectors, RNAseq, etc
- Please note , U.S. citizens or green card holders will receive top preference due to their eligibility for federal T32 training grants and NIH F32 postdoctoral fellowships.
- However, exceptional international candidates with excellent and productive track record (including first-authored articles) may also be considered, funds permitting.
