- Within the Counseling and Wellness department the Prevention Specialist provides engagement and support services, particularly to program participants engaged in behaviors that may pose risks such as drug and alcohol use, criminal offensives, and self-injury by using a strength-based approach.
- Prevention specialists are professionals who work with at-risk youth by conducting education about substance abuse and other high-risk activities.
- Attend meetings, trainings and conferences as required and attend all meetings with Milwaukee County Funder as required.
- Must participate in activities that correlate to the funding request and public health observation such as, Better Ways to Cope, Light & Unite Red, National Drug Overdose Day, Black Balloon Release Day and others determined by the BHS Prevention Team.
- Prevention grantees must participate in coalition initiatives such as RISE MKE, OD-PHAST, Healthy MKE, Northside Community Collective, etc.
