Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) is a federally funded program at the Frost Science Museum designed to equip students from Miami-Dade County’s Title 1 schools with the tools and knowledge necessary for college success and STEM careers.

Qualifications: Experience At least 1 year of experience working with children and youth, family reunification/preservation, and or foster care/child welfare and previous work experience and interest working with foreign born populations is required.

Plan, supervise and implement activities for assigned group of children in accordance to both age and developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by licensing agency, State of Florida and the YMCA of South Florida mission and YMCA Child Care Personnel Policies by submitting outcome data and curricula / lesson plans to the Lead Teacher/ Curriculum Specialist and/or Program Director in a timely and neat manner.

Assess the safety and suitability of a sponsor before an unaccompanied child is released from custody into a sponsor’s care (Home Study). Must be cleared and approved by Office of Refugee Resettlement and background check including FBI fingerprints and Child Abuse and Neglect checks required upon hire (initiated by IRC after acceptance of the position.
