Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Provides hands-on, Quality and Process Engineering support throughout the plant with a distinct sense of urgency. Delivers daily measurement support of key operations. Defines and designs appropriate gaging. Creates and implements Quality and Process documentation in compliance with AS9100/ISO9001 business management systems. Works closely with QC lab on inspections, FAIs, and Non-Conforming Material handling. Drives continuous improvement and relentless root-cause problem-solving at all levels throughout the facility. The shift schedule is 7:30 am-4:30 pm. 8-hour shift Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support the Quality Manager by teaching and driving a working understanding of the AS9100/ISO9001 business management systems through everyday processes and procedures. Work with engineering on new product processing development. Ensure Product Quality requirements are clearly defined. Develop and implement Quality and Process documentation. Define and design practical floor gages. Prepare documentation; perform, and report First Article Inspections. Prepare documentation; perform and report Inspection Plans and Checklists. Prepare documentation; perform, and report Audit processes throughout the facility. Provide daily analysis and measurement support of key production processes, including but not limited to chemistry of metal, sand testing, scrap. Develop, execute, and analyze quality-reporting measures; periodically report to management on quality issues, supplier performance, non-conformances, corrective actions, trends, and losses, always with a plan included for resolution and/or improvement. Conducts root cause analysis on both internal and external problems using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Lead or support RMAs, SCARs, and Non-Conformances to include issuing, follow-up, and closure. Seek out opportunities and apply applicable statistical tools to provide data-driven evaluations and metrics for current processes and any process changes. Lead or participate in Kaizen events. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering or working with Quality Systems. 2 - 3 years of experience with Quality audits. Desire and ability to spend significant amounts of time on the shop floor. Strong computer skills, working knowledge of MS Office applications, and advanced knowledge of MS Excel. Ability to read drawings. Experience with measurement instruments. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to build effective working relationships. Proven ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and perform root cause analysis. Preferred Requirements: ASQ Certification: CQE, CSSBB, CQM/OE etc. or equivalent. Working knowledge and experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100, or similar standards Experience with a FARO measurement instrument. SolidWorks experience. Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T. Metallurgical training or experience.
