Job Description
The Project Accounting Analysts serve as vital members of our accounting and finance organization. The team is comprised of individuals who have a proven track record of expanding their value-added impact far more broadly than a traditional accounting role would allow. This role will play an integral part in managing the accounting process and internal controls for a various projects and entities. The position provides valuable general accounting experience with potential growth into areas such as Financial Reporting and Deal Accounting.
Responsibilities may include:
Prepare Journal Entries:
Book accruals, reserves, reclasses, depreciation, and other necessary general accounting entries
Book and pay company payroll and overhead costs
Record intercompany transactions and fundings
Interface with external service providers and local Vitol offices to ensure correct accounting treatment
Manage Remittances:
Post and apply daily cash receipts and payments
Reconcile daily and monthly bank statements
Bank account maintenance, including linking accounts from Vista to Vega and maintaining the check process
Assist in the transition to SWIFT
Monthly Closing Process and Related Analysis:
Perform various monthly closing processes including coding review, intercompany reconciliation, and overhead analysis
Prepare fixed asset rollforward schedules and perform corresponding analytical code checks
Analyze financial information; recognize and report on significant variances, trends and irregularities
Assist in consolidation process
Perform overhead analysis and related reporting for management
Assist with external financial statement audits
Develop and Maintain Internal Controls:
Design and test internal controls for Vega processes
Maintain Delegation of Authority (DOA) and expense approver flow
Manage and maintain Concur reporting system and employee expense reporting process
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
2 years of experience in a General Accounting function
CPA strongly preferred; must be CPA eligible at a minimum
Fundamental accounting skills required
Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook and Word
