Tech Lead - Night Shift - 7:30pm - 7:45am - (4 on/4 off)Technical leaders concentrate on the technical aspects of the production process, verifying correct setup and changeover, resolving production or equipment problems and reviewing quality of work. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Communicates safety discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor or Area Manager. Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures. Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products. Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity. Inspect production for quality and adherence to customer specifications. Monitor SPC charts and use precision measuring instruments to perform quality checks. Place product in boxes, ensuring safe transport to customer. Maintain inventory of job materials and ensure that operators have adequate raw materials and supplies. Be able to read and understand product drawings and specifications. Able to confirm the correct entry of computer input of ticket information. Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors. Write work orders and update journal at end of shift. Interprets company policies and enforces safety regulations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Plans and assists with product changeover and set up for equipment. Selection of proper tooling, fixtures, etc. to set up equipment for production. Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment; Start up and shut down processing equipment. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of the department. Train operators as needed. Measure and record data associated with operating equipment; Provide advice or training to other technicians; select cleaning materials, tools, or equipment. May operate production equipment when needed. Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures. Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), and Kaizen activities, as needed Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials This job has no supervisory responsibilities and no direct reports. Required competencies include: Customer Focus Environmental Awareness and Compliance Functional & Technical Expertise and Computer Skills Integrity and Accountability Organizational Awareness Respect and Humility Safety Orientation Teamwork Required and preferred qualifications include: Required Education and/or Experience: Must be able to successfully complete all required job training, High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Required Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers. Required Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Required Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Preferred Qualifications: Fork Lift License and Pallet Jack License. Knowledge of database software; inventory software; manufacturing software; spreadsheet software; and word processing software Physical demands include: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may be occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may be required to occasionally use a pallet jack to move 400-500 pounds. The employee may be required to successfully pass scheduled testing for vision, hearing, respirator fitting and spirometry. Work environment includes: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; and occasionally loud. Safety requirements/PPE include: Safety shoes must be worn while on NGK property.
