The ideal candidate will promote lifelong wellness, foster healthy decision-making, and deliver engaging PE experiences that support the physical, social, and emotional development of scholars. We are looking for an educator who can build positive relationships, implement rigorous standards-based instruction, and contribute to a safe and inclusive school culture.ResponsibilitiesInstruction & CurriculumDevelop and deliver standards-aligned lessons in both Health Education and Physical Education.Implement research-based instructional strategies that accommodate diverse learners.Integrate fitness, nutrition, mental health, substance-abuse prevention, and overall wellness topics into the health curriculum.Design and facilitate PE activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and skill development.Utilize data to monitor scholar progress and adjust instruction accordingly.Classroom & Behavior ManagementMaintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities.Reinforce positive student behavior and school-wide expectations.Collaboration & ProfessionalismCollaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administrators to support scholar needs.Participate in ongoing professional development.Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding scholar progress and wellbeing.Contribute to school initiatives, extracurricular activities, and scholar wellness programming.Adhere to Early College School policies, including attendance, absences and evaluationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Health Education, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field required.Valid state teaching certification in Health and/or Physical Education (or eligibility for certification).Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and best practices in health/PE instruction.CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred.Strong communication, relationship-building, and classroom management skills.Preferred AttributesExperience teaching at the high school level.Ability to coach or support extracurricular athletics (not required, but welcomed).Commitment to creating an inclusive environment that honors diverse backgrounds and abilities.Salary & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with education and experience.Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plan.Opportunities for professional growth.Terms of EmploymentRemainder of 2025-2026 school yearContinued employment offer contingent upon performance evaluationSalary Range: Teacher ScaleBenefits in accordance with Board of Education policy.Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board of Directors and State policiesHow to ApplyInterested applicants should submit the following to https://www.joindelawareschools.orgResumeCover letterTeaching certification(s)Three professional references
