GFT is seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician II to join our Construction Services Team in Charlotte, NC! We oversee every construction phase to help ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.What you'll be challenged to do:As an SUE Technician II you will work with the SUE Department lead, Project Managers, and Analyst to provide subsurface utility engineering activities. Provides quality and efficient fieldwork by interpreting and documenting information related to underground Utilities.In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Responsible for data collection of underground utilities by means of pipe and cable locators, ground penetrating radar, and vacuum excavation.Responsible for communicating between team members both written and verbalEnsures SUE field health and safety compliance in conjunction with supervisorsMaintain records, prepare reports and prepare correspondence as needed related to the completion of work assignments.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.What you'll bring to our firm:A minimum of 2-3 years SUE or utility location experience.High school diploma or equivalent required.Valid driver's license and good driving record.Knowledge of ground penetrating radar, cable locating equipment and vacuum excavation.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decision in a timely mannerWillingness to adhere to policies and procedures as directed by supervisionAbility to coordinate and work in a team environmentOperate standard office equipment (i.e., personal computer, plotter, facsimile, copy machine, etc.)Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that GFT serves.What we prefer you bring:DOT experience is a plusIndustrial site experience is a plusExperience in land surveying is a plusCompensation:The range for this position is salary range is $30/hour - $35/hour.Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.Featured Benefits: • Comprehensive benefits package including wellness programs, parental leave, and pet insurance, in addition to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.• Tax-deferred 401(k) savings plan.• Competitive paid-time-off (PTO) accrual.• Tuition reimbursement for continued education.• Commitment to professional development, access to internal and external training programs, and support of active participation in professional organizations• Incentive compensation for eligible positions.At GFT, a privately held AEC firm, we innovate where transportation, water, power, and buildings converge.
