ABOUT THE ROLEThe Cardiovascular ICU Advance Practice Provider functions within the adult ICU areas and is integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The CVICU APP functions primarily managing critically ill adults and serves as a resource throughout UKHC for intensive care interventions. The APP is generally on a service aligned team and manages the day-to-day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow up in the outpatient setting. The APP also may play a role in the admissions process including ICU triage.UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital: The University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital is a 569-bed acute care hospital. It has Central and Eastern Kentucky s only Level I trauma center and handles the most severe traumas. It has the only Level 4 neonatal intensive care unit in the area to treat the sickest infants.The hospital offers 100 intensive care beds, a post-anesthesia care unit, 17 operating rooms, 14-bed labor and delivery and 26 mother-baby rooms.
