Health Professions - CTE Instructor
Position Title:Career Technical Education Instructor- Health ProfessionsReports To:CTE DirectorPosition Summary:The Health Professions Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher provides rigorous, standards-based instruction to high school students pursuing careers in healthcare. The instructor prepares students for post-secondary education, industry-recognized credentials, and entry-level employment in health-related fields through classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and clinical/work-based learning placements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Instruction & CurriculumDevelop and deliver instruction aligned with state Health Science/Health Professions CTE standards.Teach courses such as:Medical terminologyPatient care fundamentalsInfection controlHealthcare ethics & HIPAAVital signs and clinical skillsEmergency proceduresIntegrate academic content, technology, and project-based learning.Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials (e.g., STNA/CNA, CPR, First Aid, or other state-approved certifications).Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.Clinical & Work-Based LearningCoordinate and supervise clinical rotations and work-based learning experiences.Establish and maintain partnerships with hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and healthcare providers.Ensure compliance with safety regulations, health requirements, and liability guidelines.Monitor and evaluate student performance in clinical settings.Student DevelopmentPromote professionalism, ethics, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.Serve as advisor for Career Technical Student Organizations such as HOSA-Future Health Professionals.Guide students in career exploration, credentialing pathways, and post-secondary planning.Program ManagementMaintain an active Program Advisory Committee composed of healthcare professionals.Ensure lab equipment, simulation materials, and supplies meet safety and instructional standards.Maintain required documentation for state reporting and credential tracking.Participate in program review, accreditation, and continuous improvement efforts.Assessment & ComplianceAssess student learning using formative and summative assessments.Prepare students for state technical assessments and certification exams.Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and competency records.Comply with district policies and state CTE regulations.Qualifications:Required:Valid State Career Technical Education Teaching License in Health Science/Health Professions (or eligibility to obtain).Minimum of 5 years of recent healthcare industry experience (as required for CTE licensure).Current healthcare licensure or certification (e.g., RN, LPN, EMT, or related credential).Preferred:Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Science, or related field.Previous teaching or training experience.Experience supervising clinical students.Knowledge of healthcare compliance and documentation procedures.Work Environment:Classroom and healthcare lab setting.Off-site clinical placements in healthcare facilities.Occasional evening meetings, student competitions, or professional development.Evaluation:
