Middle School Information Technology Instructor

Position Overview The Information Technology Instructor provides high-quality instruction to middle school students, focusing on the development of technical skills, digital citizenship, and career readiness. This role transitions students from foundational applications in 6th grade to the state-aligned career technology course in 7th and 8th grade. The instructor will foster a safe, engaging environment where students explore IT career pathways, AI ethics, and hardware fundamentals, ensuring all learners are prepared for postsecondary success in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to state CTE content standards and district curriculumDirect students in the use of the Google Suite for Education, Microsoft, or other software platforms, emphasizing efficient workflow and professional communication.Facilitate evidence-based discussions and projects regarding AI ethics, general AI utility, and digital citizenship to build responsible digital leaders.Support student awareness of IT career clusters and the transition to advanced technical coursework.Develop lesson plans that incorporate hands-on learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications appropriate for a school settingEstablish and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, responsibility, and respectAssess and monitor student progress; maintain accurate grades and records in accordance with district policiesDifferentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English learnersMaintain classroom/lab organization and ensure safe use of equipment and materials in accordance with school and state guidelinesCommunicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and expectationsCollaborate with counselors, administrators, and other staff to support student success and program developmentParticipate in staff meetings, professional development, and district initiativesFulfill all responsibilities related to student supervision, including assigned dutiesQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Education, Technology, or a related field.Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for middle school (Grades 4-9 or equivalent) with appropriate CTE certification (or ability to obtain)Knowledge of technology content and middle school instructional practices.Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Effective classroom management and organizational skills.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning.PreferredExperience teaching in a middle or high school settingIndustry experience in a technology-related fieldExperience integrating instructional technology into the classroomPhysical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the school dayAbility to sit, bend, kneel, and reach as needed in a classroom/lab environmentAbility to lift and move instructional materials and equipment up to 40-50 poundsAbility to actively monitor and supervise students in a classroom or lab settingWorking Conditions Work is performed in a school classroom and/or technology lab environmentRegular interaction with students in a structured school settingExposure to typical classroom and lab noise levelsAdherence to the school calendar, daily schedule, and district policiesOccasional supervision of students during school events, field experiences, or extracurricular activitiesWork may include collaboration with other educators and participation in school-based initiativesEEO DisclaimerFindlay City Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), disability, age, religion, military status, ancestry, or genetic information (collectively, "Protected Classes").
