Director of Development Services
Position SummaryReporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development Services works closely with the Board and Staff to carry out a broad-based fundraising plan targeting individuals, corporations, and foundations. In addition, the Director works to keep the annual fund & and donation strategy on schedule, progressing with a sense of excitement, optimism, and confidence in achieving the fundraising goal. Primary responsibilities will include:Overall fundraising management, including communication, prospect tracking, strategy, grant management, task assignment, and maintenance of timelines.Researching and identifying prospects.Oversee grant management, including writing, reporting, and prospecting.Scheduling meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and meeting preparation for board members and staff.Overseeing acknowledgment of all gifts and pledges and preparation of pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements.Writing all fundraising correspondence, including solicitation proposals, annual fund letters, meeting requests, and meeting follow-ups.Maintaining the master fundraising database as well as a master calendar to maximize cultivation.Organize and implement donor cultivation events.QualificationsMust embrace the mission of Arts South DakotaStrong interpersonal and writing skills.Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques.Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers.Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.Be a “self-starter” and goal-driven to initiate relationships and build awareness of Arts SD.Be organized and self-managed, embracing a culture of collaboration and independent work.Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and the community, and demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.A bachelor’s degree.Benefits: Competitive/commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
