Atelier Coordinator

Position Title: Atelier CoordinatorReporting to Title: Head of Design Studio & Atelier OperationsSummary:The Atelier Coordinator supports the daily operations, scheduling, and execution of the in-house atelier, serving as a key liaison between Design, Technical Design, and Product Development. This role ensures seamless sample flow, proactive coordination of pattern and proto development, and accurate tracking across all atelier activities.The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of garment construction, along with exceptional organizational and communication skills. This position partners closely with the Head of Design Studio & Atelier Operations to drive efficiency, accuracy, and alignment, ensuring the creative vision is executed with operational excellence.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Support daily atelier workflow, tracking pattern pass-offs, cut logs, and proto/SMS status across all active stylesMaintain and update atelier trackers to ensure visibility across all development stages (draping, patternmaking, proto, resew, SMS)Assist with atelier scheduling, capacity planning, and weekly workflow alignmentAct as a key point of contact between Design, Technical Design, Product Development, and Atelier teamsSupport and attend pattern pass-offs, ensuring all required information (BOMs, construction details, style numbers, fabrication) is accurate and completeLiaise with Fabric & Trim teams to track material arrivals and ensure timely handoff to the atelierEnsure all materials (fabrics, trims, patterns) are prepared ahead of development stagesProvide patternmakers with reference patterns, sub fabrics, and necessary toolsAssign styles to sewers based on skill level and development priority, and monitor workflow to maintain productivityCoordinate cutting priorities and prepare fabrics for cutting, ensuring correct identification and usageMaintain accurate cut logs and ensure daily uploads to shared systemsEnsure proper fabric usage for protos vs. SMS, including specialty processes such as embroidery and embossingReview and quality check all samples to ensure accuracy, construction integrity, and alignment with design intentIdentify and flag discrepancies between patterns, cutter's musts, and BOMsPrepare garments, materials, and documentation for fittings and proto reviewsOrganize and prioritize trials in alignment with development goalsLabel and organize all incoming fabrics, trims, and materials by season, supplier, and article numberCreate fabric headers, swatches, and tags, ensuring accurate tracking and inventory managementMaintain digital records including cut logs, pattern trackers, proto notes, and completion reportsAssist in compiling KPIs such as output tracking, completion rates, and sample readinessTrack invoices, expenses, and support general administrative needs including timecardsMaintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked atelier environment; monitor equipment and coordinate repairs as neededConduct end-of-season material purges and support inventory counts and resetsPosition Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience1–2 years of atelier, sample room, or related experience requiredStrong understanding of garment construction and development processesFamiliarity with patterns, cutter's musts, tech packs, and cut ticketsExcellent organizational, time management, and project coordination skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionallyDetail-oriented with a critical eye for accuracy and qualityAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environmentWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer M/D/F/VIn compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $70,000 to $75,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
