Assistant PrincipalReports To: PrincipalSalary: Based on salary schedule for 207 days.FLSA Status: ExemptJob Goal: To assist the principal in providing school-wide leadership in the area of curriculum and other assigned duties as needs dictate. He/she is expected to maintain the effective working relationship with other administrators, teacher, maintenance staff, clerical staff, and student personnel.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited educational institution.Valid Alabama certification in Administration/Supervision.Minimum of three years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience in public schools.Must complete a criminal background check through the Alabama State Department of Education at your own expense.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.Duties and Responsibilities:Primary responsibility is to work with department heads and teachers in coordinating curriculum offerings and recommend changes as needs dictate.Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.May serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities.Deals with discipline of students; confers with parents regarding student problems.Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests.Assists in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.Assist in designing the master schedule for the school.Performs such other duties as may be assigned.The above statement reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the principle functions of the job identified, and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent to the job.
