DescriptionThe Marion School District is looking for an organized, detail oriented, positive, energetic, engaged and forward thinking individual to join our team as a Speech and Language Pathologist starting during the 2026- 2027 school year.The Marion School District empowers the learning of approximately 480 students in grades PK-12. We serve the City of Marion, and the surrounding villages of Big Falls, Caroline, Leopolis and Pella and the townships of Dupont, Grant, Helvetia, Herman, Larrabee, Pella, Seneca, Union, and Wyoming. Please check out our district website for more specific information.https://www.marion.k12.wi.us/Qualifications:Hold or be enrolled in a program leading to certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).Knowledge of evidence-based practice to support early intervention ages of 3 to 5 years.Knowledge of providing speech/language therapy to students (EC-21).Knowledge of current legal requirements for providing services to exceptional children.Background in Assistive Technology for students with special needs.Required Skills:To perform this job successfully, the Speech and Language Pathologist must be able to:Assess and provide academic support services to students who exhibit communication disorders which negatively impacts their achievement and social functioning behavior (including articulation, receptive/expressive language, auditory processing, fluency, voice, written language and literacy).Monitor progress and maintain necessary documentation toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.Assess and provide academic support to English Language Learners.Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.Demonstrate problem-solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, staff, parents and administrators.Support and actively participate in a professional learning community.Exhibit strong classroom management, communication, organization and planning skills.Demonstrate an ability to provide small group and individual services to all levels of student ability.Demonstrate knowledge of phonemic awareness and literacy interventions.Communicate students' needs and progress with parents and other staff.Job Responsibilities:Plan and provide speech/language therapy to students with approved IEP Plans in an appropriate setting, e.g. therapy room, classroom, etc.Participate in the development of initial and annual IEP's.Participate in initial evaluation and re-evaluation discussion, development and implementation.Serve as a member of an inter-agency support team when students receiving services are being discussed.Conduct speech and language assessments.Interpret test results and write assessment reports.Complete appropriate special education forms and checklists.Assist with the Child Find transition team.Consult with parents/caregivers, teachers, and others as appropriate concerning students' speech/language needs.Interpret external agency reports and share information with teachers, administrators, school health personnel, etc.Maintain timely documentation of services provided to students.Complete Medicaid billing.The Marion School District offers a competitive benefit package, including Health, Dental, and Long-Term Disability Insurance.EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:The Marion School District is an equal opportunity educational institution and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, sex, gender identity/expression, national origin, creed, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability or veteran status in admission or access to, and treatment and employment in its educational programs or activities.NOTE:This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibility, or qualifications associated with the job.
