Job Title : Materials Engineer / Materials Scientist (Lab – Medical Devices)Location St. Paul, MinnesotaDuration : 6 Months (Possible Extension)Role OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Materials Engineer / Scientist to support materials assessment, R&D, and regulatory submissions within a dynamic lab environment. This role involves performing advanced material characterization, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality technical documentation in a regulated setting.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform materials characterization and testing using techniques such as SEM/EDS, metallography, optical microscopy, microhardness, Raman, and FTIRDesign and execute test plans in collaboration with project teams and scientistsConduct hands-on laboratory analysis to support R&D and product developmentAnalyze experimental data and prepare technical reports and documentationMaintain accurate records in electronic lab notebooks (ELN) in compliance with GMP/regulatory standardsSupport problem-solving initiatives and materials investigationsWork cross-functionally in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field1–3 years of experience in materials characterization or laboratory testingHands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (e.g., SEM, FTIR, Raman, microscopy)Experience working in regulated environments (GMP preferred)Strong technical writing and documentation skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience in medical devices or biomaterials (e.g., nitinol, titanium, polymers)Familiarity with biological material interactionsExperience with failure analysis or advanced materials testingKey SkillsMaterials Characterization & AnalysisLaboratory Testing & InstrumentationTechnical Documentation & ReportingProblem Solving & Root Cause AnalysisCross-Functional CollaborationAttention to Detail
