Details Inpatient Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting, located in St. Louis, MO Unit currently operates with 15 beds, with an additional 15 beds under construction Patient population consists of general Med/Surg patients, including those with post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Patient ratios are 1:5–6 on days and 1:6–7 on nights Equipment used includes Nova Meters for blood glucose monitoring, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and SCD machines EMR: Epic Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs 13-week contract Requirements Active RN license in Missouri or a compact state license that meets Missouri licensure eligibility requirements Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS from AHA preferred Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required A valid U.S. Social Security Number is required; Canadian SINs are not accepted No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs. Additional Information Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and other departments to optimize patient outcomes Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers working between November 1 and April 1; declinations are not accepted Black scrubs required; open-toed shoes are not permitted RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate Candidates within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, they must separate from the facility for at least 1 year or transition to a facility outside the 50-mile radius The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documentation of a scheduled renewal is provided American Traveler Job ID P-686126.
