Human Resources Generalist
This is an hourly position in Manteno, IL that reports to the Manager of Human Resources. This position performs duties at a professional level for the following functional areas benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, & labor law compliance. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who must be able to relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill & the business needs.ResponsibilitiesAdminister various human resources plans & procedures for all organization personnel; assist in the development & implementation of personnel policies & procedures working with the Corporate HR Manager; prepare & maintain the employee handbook & the policies & procedures manual (SOP’s).Partner with employees & management to communicate various human resources policies & work closely with Corporate HR Manager to identify potential “open door” issues & opportunities & serve as the advocate for positive employee relations.Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, communicates benefits information to employees & monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees & processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes.Organize & manage the annual open enrollment communications & election process. Maintains & distributes list of new & cancelled employees under each benefit plan & verify benefit billing for accuracy & processes for payment.Administer COBRA for group health plans.Administer FMLA/leaves of absences.Conduct new hire orientation.Conduct full cycle recruitment effort for all exempt/non-exempt personnel which includes writing job postings, reviews applications/resumes, interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements. Schedule interviews with hiring managers, present job offer letters, run background checks, drug testing, & E-Verify.Process time & attendance & payroll on a weekly basis & ensures payroll hours are recorded correctly.Maintain all employee files & applicant documentation such as I-9 forms & supporting documents.Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling & exit interviewing.Maintain human resources information system records & compiles reports from the database.Maintain compliance with federal, state & local employment benefits laws as well as other government regulations.Manage & tracks all employee disciplinary action.Maintain & coordinate employee recognition programs.Maintain company organization charts & the employee directory.Coordinate the workers compensation process & paperwork & work closely with our insurance carrier, & medical providers.Participate in administrative staff meetings & attends other meetings & seminars.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsA.A./A.S. from a 2-year College; or 5-7 years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education & experience.Knowledge of Federal & California Wage & Hour & Employment Laws.Proficient in MS Office.Strong ethical values with global & cultural awareness.Excellent verbal & written communications skills.Experience in a manufacturing environment.Bilingual Spanish.Desire:B.A./B.S. Degree from a 4-year College or University.Will be required to travel sparingly for training & meetings
