Senior Director School Operations, 2 Hour Learning - $200,000/year USD

CrossoverNew York, NYMay 24th, 2026
You tour a facility and immediately identify what's wrong — the ceiling tile that hasn't been documented, the HVAC unit that's been malfunctioning for days, the landscaping contractor who completed half the scope but submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints. You resolve issues before anyone realizes they existed. That awareness defines this position. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families expect an environment that is secure, reliable, and visit-ready at all times — not only during scheduled events. You'll maintain that expectation across the Northeast: Manhattan will be your primary location, with frequent visits to facilities in CT, MA, and PA. Your work determines whether a campus maintains premium quality or slowly deteriorates between leadership reviews.Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and vendor accountability — defining what "ready" means operationally, implementing the audit schedule, removing underperforming vendors, and establishing a sustainable operating rhythm for Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists. As the region expands and your systems mature, the position evolves into steady regional oversight: you become the operational leader the network relies on during new campus launches, crisis situations, or when standards require revision. This is a field-based position. If you prefer remote management via dashboards, this isn't the right fit. If you want direct accountability for whether 25+ facilities maintain premium standards daily — and the authority to enforce that outcome — continue reading. What You Will Be DoingPerforming scheduled on-site inspections across Northeast facilities against documented standards for cleanliness, HVAC, safety, security, signage, landscaping, furniture, and visit-readiness — and converting findings into confirmed corrective actionsManaging facilities issues and emergencies, coordinating vendor response, and closing requests only after verifying resolution (urgent <24 hours, standard <1 week)Overseeing local vendor execution against SLAs, removing consistently underperforming vendors, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions on quality and costEstablishing a weekly operational rhythm with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure each campus follows standardized procedures, not ad-hoc responsesManaging major campus improvement projects (HVAC replacement, interior updates, landscaping, AV/networking) on time and within budget, with minimal student impactDocumenting enterprise standards and AI-enabled procurement systems (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized purchasing) to ensure consistent campus launch and operationsDelivering concise weekly written updates on regional quality metrics, vendor performance, escalations, and CapEx varianceWhat You Won’t Be DoingOperating remotely via dashboards — this position requires consistent physical presence at Manhattan and 20–40% travel to regional facilities (CT, MA, PA)Leading new campus design or ground-up construction projects — capital expansion is managed by a separate teamDeveloping enterprise procurement strategy disconnected from field operations — your standards emerge from direct site observationWorking within clean reporting structures and formal authority over all stakeholders whose performance you need — you'll create accountability through clarity, documented follow-through, and rejecting ambiguous vendor commitmentsTreating "visit-ready only during leadership tours" as acceptable — persistent issues get root-cause analysis, not repeated ticketingOperating in constant reactive firefighting mode — the audit schedule and predictive maintenance systems exist to identify failures before they generate complaintsSenior Director School Operations Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain every facility in the Northeast region as safe, premium, and visit-ready every day.Basic RequirementsLocated in New York City or within commuting distance, prepared to work primarily from the Manhattan campus with 20–40% regional travelAuthorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship5+ years managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operationsDocumented success holding vendor-managed services accountable for quality, cost, and SLA performance across multiple sitesHands-on experience addressing urgent facilities problems (safety, HVAC, security, cleanliness) with measurable customer-experience outcomesStrong written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor follow-up, weekly regional quality reportingProven use of contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance, AI-assisted procurement or planning)Nice-to-have RequirementsMulti-site operations leadership in premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12, or healthcare environments serving demanding customersExperience building or rehabilitating a regional operations model that previously depended on heroics instead of standardized processesHistory of removing underperforming vendors and developing a reliable local vendor networkExperience overseeing capital improvement projects (HVAC, AV/networking, landscaping, interior upgrades) in active, customer-facing facilitiesBackground operating in an AI-first environment where playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks so people concentrate on decision-makingAbout 2 Hour LearningEducation is broken, but 2 Hour Learning is proving it doesn’t have to be.
