Maintenance Technician

The Plant Maintenance Technician will collaborate closely with production personnel to ensure the smooth operation of plant systems and various packaging equipment. The technician will bring demonstrated experience and maintenance skills to the table, with a readiness to take on increasing levels of responsibility. Please note, this position requires overtime on a regular basis, averaging 40-50 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities
Observe equipment operation to detect hazards, issues, and the need for service or repair
Provide assistance to fellow maintenance team members during repairs and downtime events
Troubleshoot VFD drives and other PLC/computer-based systems
Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and packaging equipment
Aid in implementing projects and equipment upgrades alongside the plant technical staff
Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment
Coordinate and oversee contractors for professional repairs when necessary
Update and track service inspections and checks
Support schedule changes to resolve conflicts between maintenance and daily operations activities
Develop and implement repair plans and PM programs to enhance maintenance effectiveness
Qualifications
Proven maintenance experience
Ability to work collaboratively or independently, with or without direct supervision
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in computer skills and experience with automation systems
Familiarity with hand tools and various shop equipment (welders, drills, etc.)
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate conflicts to achieve desired results
Commitment to safety standards; experience with LOTO and other safety programs
Experience with hydraulic systems, air systems, VFD drives, and forklifts
Knowledge of facility utilities
Ability to operate forklifts and scissor lifts (or willingness to obtain necessary licenses)
Strong multitasking and adaptability to frequent changes or unexpected challenges
Excellent organizational skills
Other Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Minimal welding experience preferred
Mechanical knowledge is a plus
Physical Requirements
This role involves constant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and utilizing both hands for repetitive grasping and lifting.
