QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's DegreeValid Missouri Teaching CertificateSUPERVISES:Children enrolled in his/her classes as assigned by the building principal; aides, volunteers who have been assigned to their instructional area of responsibility.JOB GOALGuides students toward gaining knowledge and skills in order to become productive citizens.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide instruction to studentsCreate and implement a classroom disciplinary planCreate lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instructionParticipate in building, grade level and subject area committeesParticipate in professional development activitiesMaintain accurate student records including attendance, grades and disciplineComplete and submit forms and required reports in a timely mannerCommunicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team or other student assistance teams as requested Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs and individual health plansReport suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacherSubject area teachers may have additional duties and responsibilitiesAttends established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g., Back-to-School Night, Open House, programs, activities, and faculty meetings).Skills and Abilities LanguageAn individual who holds this position must have the ability to:Read, analyze and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms and governmental regulations and guidanceComplete forms, write reports and engage in written correspondence with parentsPresent information effectively and respond to questionsWrite clear and complete lesson plansComputationAn individual who holds this position must have the ability to:Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inferenceApply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situationsReasoningAn individual who holds this position must have the ability to:Solve a variety of problems in many different situationsInterpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule formApply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to studentsOther Skills and AbilitiesAn individual who holds this position must have the ability to:Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordinglyEstablish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parentsPerform multiple tasks simultaneouslyTechnologyAn individual who holds this position must have the ability to:Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet useUse district software for recording grades and finding student informationUtilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the districtEVALUATIONPerformance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
