Job Description Senior Bankruptcy Litigator – Debtor RepresentationNew York, NY & White Plains, NYAbout the RoleThe Senior Bankruptcy Litigator will represent debtors and stakeholders in complex restructurings, Chapter 11 proceedings, adversary litigation, workouts, and financially distressed matters across federal and state courts. This role requires deep experience navigating high-pressure insolvency environments, developing restructuring strategy, and litigating contested matters in Bankruptcy Court.The practice handles a full spectrum of financially distressed situations requiring negotiation, restructuring finesse, or aggressive litigation strategy depending on the dynamics of the case.ResponsibilitiesRepresent debtors in Chapter 11 and other restructuring proceedingsHandle adversary proceedings, contested matters, and complex motion practiceDraft and argue motions related to automatic stay, DIP financing, cash collateral, claim objections, and plan confirmationDevelop restructuring and litigation strategies tailored to evolving financial dynamicsConduct depositions, evidentiary hearings, and court appearances in Bankruptcy Court and District CourtNegotiate with creditors, trustees, and stakeholders in restructuring mattersAdvise clients on insolvency exposure, asset protection strategies, and restructuring alternativesCoordinate with financial advisors, turnaround consultants, and valuation expertsManage matters across SDNY and EDNY Bankruptcy CourtsQualificationsActive membership in good standing with the New York State Bar8+ years of bankruptcy and restructuring litigation experienceSignificant debtor-side Chapter 11 experienceStrong adversary proceeding and motion practice backgroundExperience practicing in SDNY and EDNY Bankruptcy Courts preferredStrategic thinker capable of balancing negotiation and aggressive litigationExcellent drafting and courtroom advocacy skills
