We're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!Academies of Math and ScienceK-8 Fine Arts TeacherLocation: 5701 W McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85035Start Date: 2026-2027 School YearCompensation Range: $48,331.25 - $54,571.88 annually (DOE)Position OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K-8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking a creative and passionate K-8 Fine Arts Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that fosters creativity, artistic expression, and appreciation for the visual arts.AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making.This role requires a teacher who is enthusiastic about cultivating students' creativity while maintaining high expectations and providing opportunities for students to explore various artistic mediums and techniques.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student AchievementDeliver standards-aligned instruction in visual arts, introducing students to foundational artistic concepts such as color, form, texture, composition, and artistic techniques.Provide opportunities for students to explore a variety of artistic mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and design.Design engaging, hands-on lessons that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and artistic expression.Differentiate instruction to support students of varying artistic abilities and learning needs.Assess student progress in artistic skills, creativity, and understanding of visual art concepts.Classroom Culture & Student SupportEstablish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and engagement.Encourage creativity, confidence, and respectful collaboration during art projects and activities.Ensure proper care, organization, and responsible use of art materials and equipment.Collaboration & Professional GrowthParticipate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to support arts integration across subject areas.Plan and support school art displays, exhibitions, or events that showcase student work.Contribute to school initiatives focused on creativity, innovation, and student engagement.Family EngagementCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progress and participation in fine arts.Encourage family engagement through art showcases, school events, and exhibitions.Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school-wide activities as needed.Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following requirements:Valid teaching certification in Art or a related subject area, ORBachelor's degree in a related field of study (e.g., Fine Arts, Art Education, Visual Arts, or similar field), ORMinimum of three (3) years of K-8 teaching or art instruction experienceAdditionally, candidates must:Demonstrate strong classroom management skillsShow commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communitiesPossess strong organizational and communication skillsDemonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environmentPass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance CardCompensation & BenefitsAMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.Competitive salary based on experience401(k) retirement plan with employer contributionsMedical, dental, life, and disability insuranceOptional vision coverageRelocation stipends available (up to $5,000 for eligible candidates)Stipend opportunities for tutoring and extracurricular leadershipOngoing professional development and instructional coaching
