Summary:The Senior Environmental Engineer will lead investigations and remediation projects at contaminated sites regulated under CERCLA in California/Nevada/Arizona/Oregon/Utah, ensuring technical quality, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with clients and stakeholders. The role includes developing and implementing remedial investigation, feasibility study, removal action, and remedial action work plans; overseeing field programs; and interpreting complex environmental data to support risk management and remedy selection.Key responsibilities include coordinating multi-disciplinary teams; preparing and reviewing CERCLA-compliant technical documents (RI/FS reports, decision documents, design packages, and construction completion reports); interfacing with federal and state regulatory agencies; and mentoring junior staff. The position requires deep knowledge of CERCLA, EPA requirements, and relevant California regulations and guidance (e.g., DTSC and Regional Water Boards), strong project management skills (scope, schedule, budget), and excellent written and verbal communication.The salary range for this position is $124,117-$155,766/year.This position may qualify as a telecommute position. The ideal candidate will reside in the Southwest region of the United States.This position comes with a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) plan with a 3% match, paid time off (PTO), and company-paid holidays.This position will be posted for 5 days or until filled.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)Manage the completion of assigned tasks, including plan preparation, field staffing, subcontractor oversight, logistics, budget, invoicing, data acquisition, reporting, and close-outDevelop and implement RI/FS, removal action, and remedial action work plansDevelop conceptual site models, design monitoring networks, and prepare sampling and analysis plansCollect and interpret field data, review earth science data, synthesize and organize data as project objectives dictate, and manage or prepare the project deliverablesConduct statistical analyses of monitoring data sets, including non-parametric trend testing (e.g., Mann-Kendall), regression, and time-series analysis, and other appropriate techniques to evaluate temporal and spatial trendsSupport multiple projects, including consultation, plan or report preparation, and/or travel and fieldworkTravel in aircraft (jets, small planes, and helicopters), motor vehicles, ATVs, and/or watercraft to perform fieldwork, site visits, or meetingsPrepare or assist with the preparation of plans, including project work plans, health and safety plans, field reports, and project reportsEvaluate remedial and restoration alternativesUpdate job knowledge by reading historical documentation, publications, and other information related explicitly to applicable disciplinesEnhance company and organization reputation by accepting ownership for the team performance and adding value to assigned tasksProvide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentationReview and document the processes necessary to obtain environmental permits, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental restoration project objectivesReview and provide documentation of environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet all appropriate requirementsMeet all safety responsibilities and goalsUnderstanding best management practices as they relate to environmental investigationsImplement process improvement and tracking and reporting on changes to scope and schedulePerform other duties as assigned by managementLevel Specific Responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to)Level - SeniorProvide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projectsMaintain 2-3 areas of technical expertiseLead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documentsPrepare task orders and project proposalsProject staffing and technical mentoringUp to 25% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locationsMinimum Qualifications:All levels:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a preference for civil, environmental, chemical, or geotechnicalUS CitizenshipAbility to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, ) to obtain security access badgesValid Driver's License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicleProficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Access and PowerPointAdept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writingLevel - SeniorEight (8) or more years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experienceProfessional Engineer RegistrationPreferred Qualifications:Proficiency in other programs such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, GIS, databases, and environmental modeling programsCurrent 40-Hour HAZWOPERCPR/1st Aid CertifiedExperience working on projects with Federal clientsExperience working on projects valued at >$1MExperience working on biologically sensitive project locationsAbility to obtain California QSP and/or QSD certification within first year of employmentProject management experienceExperience and knowledge of Alaska Native culturesCore Competencies:Self-motivated - Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one's ability using drive or initiative.Teamwork - Ability to integrate with diverse teams, including stakeholders, regulators, government officials, and internal staff.Communication - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
