Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled.Position descriptionUC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care, University of California, Irvine seeks qualified candidates for the Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care (Open Ranks: Assistant, Associate, and Full Professors). Applicants must be fellowship trained in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine, Trauma Anesthesiology. Preference is given to candidates with a record of scholarly activity appropriate to their career stage, including peer-reviewed publications, extramural funding, or equivalent contributions.The role includes teaching and clinical care at UCI Medical Center in Orange, UCI Medical Center in Irvine, and affiliated sites in Orange County. Candidates must be board certified in Anesthesiology at the time of application and hold a license to practice medicine in California by the time of appointment.Teaching and Professional Responsibilities and ExpectationsClinical teaching is essential to interns, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral scholars. Responsibilities include tutorial instruction with patient care demands, mentoring, and maintaining medical staff privileges at UCI Medical Center. Faculty work regularly with residents and certified registered nurse anesthetists and rotate performing their own cases.Research, Scholarly, Creative Activity Responsibilities and ExpectationsFaculty are expected to maintain a productive independent research program in perioperative care, regional anesthesia, or trauma surgery, contributing to the department's scholarly mission. Experience in clinical outcomes research, quality improvement, patient safety, comparative effectiveness, and evidence synthesis (systematic reviews, meta-analyses) is welcomed. A history of grant funding from federal, foundation, or industry sources is viewed favorably. Interdisciplinary collaborations with orthopedic trauma surgeons, outcomes researchers, epidemiologists, and biostatisticians are encouraged.Faculty will receive departmental resources, mentorship, and protected research time commensurate with their appointment and research focus. Research productivity expectations will be defined in consultation with department leadership.University and Public Service Responsibilities and ExpectationsProfessors are expected to contribute to service outside teaching and clinical duties, including departmental, school, and university service directly related to their expertise and achievements.UCI Health offers an excellent salary, incentive, and benefit program.
