Details Hospital-based PACU setting serving a broad surgical patient population including neonates through geriatrics Average daily caseload of 35–40 cases across ortho, breast, urology, GYN, vascular, general, ENT, and plastics — no open hearts, transplants, or bariatrics RN must be able to cover both post-anesthesia recovery and pre-op for add-on cases Schedule is 3×12-hour or 4×10-hour shifts between the hours of 5:30am–10:00pm; may be stretched to 4 shifts per week depending on unit needs On-call required: 4 weeknight call shifts (10pm–7:30am) and one 24-hour weekend call shift (7am–7am, Saturday or Sunday) per 6-week schedule Requirements Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required Proficiency in pre-op admission, post-anesthesia recovery, same-day discharge, and IV insertion Proof of address required for consideration (acceptable documents: Driver's License, Voter Registration Card, Federal Income Tax Return, Military Form DD-2058, or W2 from U.S. government) 1 supervisory reference required for consideration Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration Additional Information Conducts pre-op assessments, manages post-anesthesia recovery, and provides same-day discharge instructions Collaborates with the interdisciplinary surgical team to coordinate patient care throughout the perioperative process EKG testing required on the first day of orientation (2 attempts allowed); study guides will be provided Previous travel nursing experience preferred Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate American Traveler Job ID P-687272.
