As the program grows, there will be real opportunities to step into leadership, shape programming, and advance your career .We are looking for counselors who are engaged, proactive, and solution-oriented —not just completing tasks, but helping improve how care is delivered.Important – Read Before ApplyingThis role is 100% on-site in Oakland, CASchedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PMRemote or hybrid work is not availableThe RoleThe AOD Counselor facilitates group-based SUD services for youth (in person) and supports adult programming (telehealth), while contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary care environment.Key ResponsibilitiesFacilitate evidence-based group sessions for youth and adult populationsProvide relapse prevention education and recovery coachingComplete documentation in compliance with DHCS Title 9 and Medi-Cal requirementsSupport intake, orientation, and ongoing client engagementCollaborate with clinical and medical teams to support integrated careDeliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive servicesContribute ideas and improvements as the program evolvesRequired QualificationsMust be registered with a DHCS-approved certifying body (CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE) prior to hireAbility to obtain full AOD certification within 12 months (certified counselors strongly preferred)Experience facilitating SUD groups for youth or adults preferredStrong communication, documentation, and teamwork skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environmentWhat Sets This Role ApartReal career growth as programs expandOpportunity to help build and shape services , not just maintain themStrong partnership with experienced nonprofit leadershipMission-driven work with meaningful impact
