CNC Machinist III & CNC Machinist IV/Programmer

Harris & Bruno International (H&B), a printing equipment and spare parts manufacturer, is seeking full-time CNC Machinist III ($30-$35 p/h) & CNC IV/Programmers ($36-$45 p/h). See below for both job descriptions.CNC Machinist III ($30-$35 P/h)This is a highly skilled, senior-level machinist responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment to manufacture precision components. This role serves as a technical expert on the shop floor, leading complex machining projects, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring junior machinists to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.Expectations Set up and operate CNC mills for complex, tight-tolerance partsEdit and optimize CNC programs (G-code or CAM-generated)Interpret advanced engineering drawings, GD&T, and specificationsSelect appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining strategiesPerform first article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring toolsTroubleshoot machining issues, including tooling, programming, and material challengesOptimize cycle times and improve manufacturing processesLead or support continuous improvement initiatives (lean, 5S, etc.)Train, mentor, and provide guidance to CNC Machinist I & II team membersCollaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve design or production issuesMaintain equipment and ensure proper machine upkeepFollow all safety and quality proceduresEducation and/or Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required (technical training or apprenticeship preferred)5–10+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environmentAdvanced experience with CNC mills (multi-axis preferred)Basic programming skills (G-code and/or CAM)Deep understanding of GD&T and blueprint readingProficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM exposure a plus)Experience machining a variety of materials (aluminum, steel, stainless, etc.)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionPreferred Qualifications:Experience with 4-axis and 5-axis machiningLean manufacturing or continuous improvement experienceLeadership or team lead experienceFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systemsCNC lV/Programmer ($36-$45 p/h)This is a senior-level technical expert responsible for full-cycle CNC programming, setup, and operation of complex precision components. This role leads advanced machining strategies, develops efficient programs using CAM software, and drives continuous improvement across machining processes. This position supports engineering and manufacturing by assisting with troubleshooting, process development, and manufacturability improvements, while mentoring machinists and supporting production excellence.Expectations Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360)Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes for highly complex, tight-tolerance partsInterpret advanced engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirementsDesign and recommend tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutionsLead new part introduction (NPI) from print to productionPerform program prove-outs, first article runs, and process validationTroubleshoot and resolve complex machining, tooling, and programming issuesOptimize cycle times, tool life, and overall machining efficiencyCollaborate closely with engineering to improve part manufacturability (DFM feedback)Mentor and train CNC Machinist I–III team membersEstablish and document standardized work instructions and setup sheetsSupport continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen)Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety proceduresEducation and/or Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required (technical training strongly preferred)8–12+ years of CNC machining experience, including advanced programmingExpert-level proficiency with CNC mills (multi-axis required)Advanced CAM programming experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)Strong G-code knowledge and ability to edit programs at the machineDeep understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretationExperience with complex materials (stainless steel, tool steels, aluminum, etc.)Proficiency with precision inspection tools; CMM experience preferredProven ability to troubleshoot and optimize machining processesAbility to work independently and lead technical projectsPreferred Qualifications:4-axis and 5-axis machining expertiseFixture design experienceLean manufacturing or Six Sigma exposureExperience with ERP/MRP systemsBoth Positions:Physical Requirements:Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 poundsManual Dexterity: Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach, and operate tools, measuring instruments, and computer controls.Vision Requirements: Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to inspect parts and read precision measuring instruments.Hearing and Communication: Must be able to hear machine sounds, alarms, and verbal instructions in a noisy environment.Postural Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally climb or balance while loading materials or accessing machinery.Work Environment: Exposure to moving mechanical parts, metal shavings, noise, coolant, and shop odors.
