Lunar Fluids & Thermal Systems Analysis Engineer

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will conduct thermal analysis to define the performance and operations for various spaceflight systems, define hardware requirement and resolve technical challenges. You will generate and run thermo-fluids models of cryogenic propellant in spacecraft, provide guidance on optimizing hardware configuration, mission conops and control logic, quantitatively evaluate alternative trade studies and provide recommendations and work with a cross functional team to advance the state of the art of in space cryogenic fluid management Special Mentions: Relocation provided Travel expected up to 15% of the time Interviews will include a technical assessment Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Minimum of two years of relevant experience is required Strong understanding of thermal and fluid mechanics with relevant experience preferably in aerospace industry (We are looking for thermal engineers of all skill levels from beginner to advanced) Experience with one or more fluid or thermal modeling tools is required (e.g., SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop, Flow3D, CFD++, ANSYS Fluent, MATLAB/Simulink or other commercial codes). Work closely with other cross functional team as needed (e.g., systems engineers to develop and verify requirements, Design team to support sizing and trade studies, procurement to choose the best supplier) Preferred Qualifications: Experience with modeling propulsion/cryogenic fluids management (storage, transfer, phase change,...) Experience with Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Knowledge of other tools including MATLAB, Simulink, Amesim Successful candidates typically have relevant proven experience in design and analysis of aerospace thermal systems Advanced graduate degrees (Masters or PhD) Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++, FORTRAN) Active/passive Thermal/Pressure Control System/component design Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85
