The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for carrying out IT Department objectives in the areas of project management, analysis, planning and implementation. This position acts as a resource for IT Department staff to assist in planning, coaching, mentoring, development and growth of the IT organization. Resource will be heavily involved in creating/organizing appropriate plans for large-scale complex projects, identifying firm and outside resources necessary to complete projects on time and within budget. Then, communicating status and scope of various projects to appropriate individuals in the firm. The Senior Project Manager works closely with members of firmwide management, Directors and Chiefs to implement strategic firmwide initiatives. The Senior Project Manager has excellent documentation experience and superior technical knowledge and is both internally team-focused and externally client-facing as required. The Senior Project Managers may be responsible for supervising Project Managers and may assist in trafficking project work and managing resource assignments. Individual must possess expert knowledge in project management demonstrated by a proven track record of success in multiple complex projects and/or programs. This position may be assigned to take the lead in various technical projects; is responsible for projects dealing with computer systems, telecommunications systems, network systems, and training and support and development projects.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerform meeting facilitation, issue management, risk management, conflict management, budget forecasting, tracking, and communication activitiesAdhere to the department’s standard Project Methodology in all technology initiativesProvide strategic advice and consult on the design and implementation of effective IT business processes across Firm to include process analysis, redesign, reengineering and overall IT organizational effectivenessManage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scopeReview deliverables prepared by team before passing to clientEffectively apply our methodology and enforce project standardsPrepare for PMO Project Reviews and quality assurance proceduresMinimize exposure and risk on project by monitoring project progress, schedule, budget deviation, customer satisfaction and proactively reporting to senior project managementDevelop/update project plans, implement schedules and cost estimates for projectsDeliver projects within time and cost agreed upon tolerancesDirect, motivate and coordinate the people on assigned projectsExhibits an expert ability to impact and influence project outcomesWorks with multiple teams, delegating work load and ensuring team efficiencyProduce all relevant reports using the PMO Project toolWorks and educates others outside of IS on department’s standard Project MethodologyDocument, obtain approval, and track all changes in project scopeEnsures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriatelyUtilize Firm Project Management Tools and trains users in the toolsCommunicate routinely with project team member’s management to give feedback on project resources and address issuesParticipate in the establishment/implementation of short and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures: monitors and provides timely management reportingRepresent the projects/assignments to various internal components as directedCommunicate regularly with PMO and IS Management staff regarding the status of current project initiativesObtain IS Management approval as required to advance initiativesKnowledge, Skills And Abilities RequiredAccustomed to working as a team leader and memberExcellent policy making, leadership and interpersonal skillsOutstanding customer service skills and the ability to work with non-technical usersExperience with operation systems, software, PC's, mini-computers and other areas of information systemsDemonstrated ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity, and sensitivityKnowledge of and adherence to the standards and techniques of the PMBOKAbility to manage time and resources directed to multiple projects / assignmentsExcellent analytical, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutionsAbility to act independently, taking accountability for their actions and others work, yet communicate closely with management for status and direction settingStrong structure project methodology experienceGoal oriented and action/result focusedPragmatic and self-disciplined and organizedExperience10 years of IT experience and 5 years experience in technical project management with systems-related activities is preferred; previous law firm experience desired.PMP Certification required and strong knowledge in MS Project, MS Office and Visio.EducationA four year degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related fieldCompensation Salary $97,000 - $182,000The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.About The FirmK&L Gates is a fully integrated global law firm with lawyers located across five continents in more than 40 offices.
