Great opportunity for a Sr Mechanical Engineer in either Houston or Chandler, AZ.Senior Mechanical Engineer (Wet Systems)Location: Houston, TX or Chandler, AZ (Local candidates only)Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in the office / 2 days remote from home)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in wet systems to lead and support mechanical engineering activities on medium to large-scale industrial projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and cross-functional coordination throughout all phases of project execution.Reporting StructureReports administratively to the Mechanical Chief Engineer within the global business unit, who provides overall objectives and strategic direction.Receives day-to-day operational guidance from the Engineering Group Supervisor.Provides technical direction and mentorship to Junior Engineers, Technical Specialists, and Designers assigned to projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage mechanical engineering design activities for medium to large-scale projects.Coordinate complex interfaces between internal teams, clients, and external contractors.Apply extensive knowledge of wet mechanical systems and equipment packages, including:Chilled water systems (chillers with VFDs, pumps, expansion tanks)Water treatment systemsCondenser and cooling tower systemsAir-cooled heat exchangersHeating water systems (boilers and pumps)Skid-mounted pump and tank packagesSupport and design liquid cooling systems for Data Center projects.Experience with dry systems such as HVAC and cleanrooms within Semiconductor and/or Data Center environments is considered a plus.Utilize working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME, API, AWWA, and NFPA standards.Contribute to mechanical engineering estimates, including quantities, labor hours, and budgeting for proposals and project execution.Ensure engineering work complies with Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, and company standards.Coordinate schedules and deliverables across multiple engineering disciplines.Collaborate closely with Procurement, Construction, Startup, ES&H, and Project Controls teams.Review and approve bid evaluations and procurement recommendations for mechanical equipment and services.Resolve mechanical engineering issues encountered during field execution or at job sites.Conduct site visits as needed to support project coordination and technical resolution.Participate in technical risk assessments and ensure adherence to project quality and safety standards.Communicate technical concepts, recommendations, and project updates effectively to clients and project leadership.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent international certification preferred.Minimum of 15 years of progressive engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities.Strong background in design engineering, field engineering, startup, plant operations, or related industrial engineering environments.Solid understanding of mechanical systems, engineering calculations, construction methods, and engineering software applications.Familiarity with construction practices, cost considerations, and modern design/construction methodologies.Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and approval processes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with modular design projects is highly preferred.Prior experience supporting greenfield and/or brownfield projects in industries such as:SemiconductorAI Data CentersLife Sciences / PharmaceuticalsEV Battery ManufacturingMust be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
