Environmental Staff Engineer (Petroleum Remediation)

Job Description MAS Environmental (a NOVA Engineering & Environmental Company) is seeking an Environmental Engineer in Tampa, Tallahassee, or Fort Lauderdale, FL with 1–3 years of experience supporting Florida's Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP). This position supports site assessment, remediation, and regulatory reporting for petroleum-impacted sites throughout Florida, with opportunities for professional growth and long-term career development.Key Responsibilities:Support FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP) projects, including site assessment, remediation design, and compliance reporting.Assist with Site Assessments, Remedial Action Plans, and monitoring reportsPrepare and review FDEP-compliant technical reports, cost documentation, and reimbursement submittalsConduct and/or oversee soil, groundwater, and vapor samplingOversee installation of wells on environmental remediation projects.Conduct pilot testing for remediation systems and evaluate performance data to optimize system design and implementation.Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, and internal project teamsAssist with data interpretation, plume mapping, and remedial system performance evaluationsMaintain compliance with state and federal environmental regulationsParticipate in field work, including site visits throughout FloridaSupport Project Managers with scheduling, budgeting, and client communicationRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or an equivalent international degree with NCEES credential evaluation, is required.1–3 years of experience working with Florida's Petroleum Restoration ProgramFamiliarity with FDEP regulations, PRP eligibility, and reimbursement processesExperience with environmental sampling and field documentationStrong technical writing and organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeValid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:Engineer Intern (EI) certification or ability to obtainExperience with petroleum remediation technologies (SVE, air sparging, groundwater recovery, MNA)Consulting experience supporting petroleum or environmental remediation projectsGIS, CAD, or environmental data management experienceMAS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
